Before I became Vegan I was a die-hard coffee drinker and fan.
I would drink 3-5 coffee per day, usually from the drive through at Tim Horton’s.
But once I became vegan my options got really limited.
I tried black coffee.
I tried coffee with soy milk but that was only at limited shops.
I tried coffee from Starbucks which was good but I just can’t get on board with paying $6 for a coffee on the regular.
And of course now we are in quarantine so I’m not going to drive throughs anyway.
Eventually I turned to tea and I then discovered the wonderful variety of milks for vegans:
- Almond milk
- Cashew milk
- Soy milk
- Oat milk
I’ve tried all the milks above and my favorite by far is oat milk. It’s the best vegan milk for tea!
I first discovered herbal teas when I went to visit a friend who offered me one and I was like – why didn’t someone tell me how delicious these were sooner?!
I almost went on a very expensive shopping spree at this site: Lemon Lily Tea. I resisted, for now 😉
I did get a bunch at my local health food store, though. The Classic Chai tea is my favorite!
When it comes down to an everyday tea with a bit of caffeine, then I love to make a London Fog tea, at home, with oat milk.
Here’s how I make it:
- Steep the tea. I use Twinnings Earl Grey Tea.
- Remove teabag and add a teaspoon or two of maple syrup.
- Blend up the oat milk so it’s frothy and awesome. My favorite Oat Milk is Earth’s Own.
- Add cinnamon on top.
- Add coconut whipped cream on top of the cinnamon. Gay Lea Coconut Whipped Cream is the one I’m using here.
I know an official London Fog is supposed to include vanilla but I didn’t really find vanilla extract did add anything to it and I don’t want to go putting chemical filled additives so I just leave it out.
You could add a vanilla flavoring if you like!
Voila! Yummy fancy tea at home.
Of course this is purely an opinion post.
I love oat milk in my tea and think it is by far the most delicious but I want to know what YOU think:
Which vegan milk is best in tea?
Also what kind of tea is best?
What are your thoughts on this?
